Pair Royal Worcester Parian figures

A fine pair of Royal Worcester Parian figures standing on round bases each with an impressed name "Il Penseroso" with blue and gilt edging to the robe, "L'Allegro" with the robe edged in pink and holding a garland of flowers. Both figures are based on poems by John Milton first published in 1645. "Il Penseroso" (The Serious Man) is a vision of melancholy, "L'Allegro (The Happy Man), is a pastoral poem. They are invariably paired together, one to balance the other.
Date: One with printed mark for 1864, the other with impressed mark
Height: L'Allegro 16.5 in. 42 cm. Il Penseroso 15.5 in. 39.5 cm.
Condition: Very good with no restoration
