Pair Derby bough pots

A fine pair of Derby bough pots and covers of bombē shape standing on four feet, the pale creamy beige ground well gilded with swirling and trailing detail, the pierced covers with finials modelled as flower filled cornucopias with a moulded rose, thistle and shamrock in the "Union" manner. Each bough pot with a central panel colourfully painted with a large bowl and vase overflowing with bright garden flowers.
Unmarked but see Miller's Antiques Price Guide for 1988, page 151 for a pair of Derby bough pots of identical shape including the finials from a sale at Christies New York in 1987.
Date: Circa 1840
Width: 8 inches ( 20.25 cm.) Height overall 5.5 inches ( 14 cm.)
