Chamberlain Worcester plate

A rare Regency period Chamberlain Worcester plate, the light blue ground decorated with a gilt "chain mail" design within a gilt faux beaded outer rim, the centre panel well painted with a crouching hare in a moorland landscape, marked to the reverse with the inscription "Hare Sitting" and " Vide Daniel's Rural Sports " together with the Chamberlain Worcester printed backstamp  and an old price label.

"Hare Sitting" is based on the original engraving from "Daniel's Rural Sports" by the Reverend William B Daniel, a three volume series first published in 1801.  For another plate of similar design painted by Humphrey Chamberlain Jr. and probably from the same series see the Victoria and Albert Museum English Porcelain Collection,  Museum number 326:3-1889.
