Brown-Westhead Moore cup and saucer









A striking Brown-Westhead Moore cup and saucer, the bowl shaped cup with the signature twisted rope handle terminating in four knotted feet and detailed with gilding. Both cup and saucer with grounds of vibrant deep rose pink and broad embossed gilt borders in a meandering "Greek Key" type pattern enhanced with beading. The cup and saucer both marked to the reverse with the Registered Design mark for February 1st. 1869.
The firm of Brown-Westhead Moore & Co. (1861-1904) were direct successors to the old established and important porcelain manufacturers Ridgway. They produced extremely high quality wares for, amongst many others, the British Royal Family, the Russian Imperial Family and top American retailers such as Tiffany New York

Condition: Very good, the cup with just a fine hairline to the glaze to the inside of the cup only and not affecting the outside.
