An extremely attractive English porcelain tureen and cover attributed to the Staffordshire factory of R & J Clews, standing on a circular foot, both bowl and cover relief moulded around with double barred C scrolls and wreaths, each highlighted with gilt motifs, the finial modelled as a gold flower and all colourfully painted with groups of garden flowers, foliage and scattered flying insects.

Condition:Very good and unrestored, just three or four very small flakes to the wide gilt rim of bowl (see photos) and a small tear to the glaze.
