Coalport taperstick

An unusual and decorative Regency period Coalport taperstick, the handle modelled as a sinuous gilded serpent and the thumbrest as a gilt scallop shell. The base decorated with a circular band of gilt leaves and berries, the tall broad sconce with trailing foliage, flowers, berries and gilt spirals and a brightly coloured exotic bird in flight, all between two bold gilt bands.
