Mason's chamberstick

An unusual and rare Mason's porcelain chamberstick with bold gilded handle, the sconce decorated around with three single roses and foliage. The bowl modelled as a clamshell standing on a pedestal foot and painted underneath in the palest lilac; both bowl and foot with rich cobalt blue grounds and fine random gilt detailing between radiating gilt bands. For a virtually identical chamberstick see Mason's Collectors Club Monograph Number 1, Page 9.

Although today perhaps better known for their iconic Mason's Ironstone, in the early years of the nineteenth century Mason's porcelains were noted for the quality of their design, their potting and their decoration. This is just one small example.
