Minton cabinet cup and saucer

Minton cabinet cup and saucer standing on three paw feet, both cup and saucer ringed with beading, the deep pink ground brightly painted with floral bouquets and sprays all enhanced with rich gilding. Unmarked but see G. Godden 'Minton 1793-1850' Plate 79, an excerpt from the original pattern books where it is described as ' No 55, Caudle cup and stand'

Caudle was a hot drink made from gruel (a thin porridge made from boiling oatmeal in milk or water) sugar, wine and spices and was intended to be used  for medicinal purposes, mainly by invalids .
